The Best Way to Clean and Sanitise Boots

In any working environment it’s good practice to remove debris from the sole of your shoes to prevent walking mud in. But the cleaning process is much more intense in controlled areas – and often a boot washing station is the best solution.

Here at Stainless Steel Manufacturing & Equipment Ltd (SSME), we provide a variety of hands-free boot wash cleaning systems that enable you to clean and sanitise mucky boots in no time. Although they all do the same thing and completely clean footwear, there are several variations available, and choosing the right one is key for efficient boot cleaning.

Manual boot wash stations

Who knows what’s lurking on the bottom of your boots?! It could be foreign objects like glass or metal, chemicals, salmonella or even radioactive materials. Our manual boot cleaning station is suitable for all kinds of footwear worn in production areas and prevents contamination.

We supply the manual boot wash in 1-4 stations to suit small to medium-sized processing areas – meaning that more than one employee can wash their boots at the same time. To use, you place your foot on the high-density nylon base brush for scrubbing the soles of shoes and use the water-fed handheld boot brush to clean the top and sides of your boots manually.

Automatic sole wash stations

Although manual cleaning is a convenient solution for boot washing, it’s time-consuming, can be physically straining for some and you also need to make sure you’re wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). In comparison, an automatic boot wash, is a safer alternative and scrubs and sanitises boots effortlessly, without the need to bend down or  worry about getting your hands wet or dirty.

While the initial outlay is more expensive, they reduce water, chemical and detergent usage which effectively saves you money and has a positive impact on the environment.

Our automatic rotating sole washer is quick and easy to use. It uses a sensor to detect your foot, automatically activating the brushes and causing them to rotate and remove debris from the sole of your boots. To sanitise your boots, the automatic boot washing station will spray water dosed with sanitising solution onto the brushes.
